Gathering in the Love of Christ

love is protection

Like I have said before I am a disciple of Jesus Christ so I pray, study the scriptures and ponder on Christ’s teachings daily. These activities allow me to stay grounded in my purpose on this earth. This week as I was devoting myself to my spiritual growth the thought came to me that ‘Love is your protection.’

Christ gave two great commandments in Matthew 22: 37-39, Love the Lord thy God with all they heart, with all they soul and with all thy mind. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

When it comes to any part of life if you love first you will always be in the right. If you approach every situation with love you will never feel like you have come out on the losing end.

Let me give you a scenario. When someone hits you or hurts you what is your first reaction? To hit or hurt them back, right. Has hitting anyone back ever made you feel better? If you are like me the answer is a big fat NO. I always feel ten times worse because not only did I hurt someone but I also feel so guilty for retaliation and then I have a hard time forgiving myself for my actions. Thus causing a cycle of hurt and ruminating.

What if I were to approach each situation with love first. What if I made up my mind that no matter what happens my first reaction will be of love.

Case and point, imagine you're in a situation where a close friend or family member speaks harshly to you in the heat of an argument. Your initial reaction might be to respond with equally sharp words. However, instead of reacting from a place of hurt, you take a breath and choose love. You respond calmly, acknowledging their feelings without escalating the situation.

By choosing love, you break the cycle of anger and pain. Your response not only de-escalates the argument but also opens the door for healing and understanding. In this way, love becomes your protection—not just from the hurt of others, but from the inner turmoil of guilt and regret that often follows a harsh reaction. In loving first, you remain centered and at peace, no matter the outcome of the situation.

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
— James 1:19-20

By choosing love you are choosing to stay in a higher vibrational patterns which makes it easier to forgive and move forward to compromises and rectifying the situation.

When you chose love you chose protecting yourself.

Love is protection!
