Recognize Emotions
The world is starting to recognize the importance of dealing with emotions from anxiety to depression to anger and dealing with disappointments. The world has seen a mental health spike and I have read many studies about the importance of recognizing our emotions and dealing with these emotions in healthy ways. Some of those healthy ways are meditations, affirmations, journaling, listening to binaural beats changing our mindsets and energy work sessions.
I have done all these methods and have figured out a few different approaches that work for me. This has taken practice and there are some days I struggle to utilize some of these approaches. I am still human and sometimes life is just a struggle but over the course of the last year it has become easier and I hope to continue this practice forever!
My Process
Gratitude Approach
When I notice myself starting to have a negative thought I immediately try and change it to a positive affirmation or I try to find some gratitude in it. For example, I really don’t want to drive my kids to another soccer practice. This one I would change to a gratitude list. I am grateful for my car, I am grateful that my kids have the ability to play soccer and get some exercise, I am grateful that I don’t have to fight them over screentime for the next couple of hours, I am grateful I have some time to check in with my kids about their life, I am grateful we have the means and ability to allow them to play soccer. This allows me to change my perspective and move forward with a positive energy mindset.
Affirmations with Meditation Approach
An example for affirmations with a meditation moment would be, I just had a mothering moment and yelled at my kids, AGAIN! I would try to leave the room and take a moment to myself and say the following: I am a good mom, I forgive myself for losing my temper, I am starting over right now, I love being a mom, I love my kids, I am patient, I am a loving mom. Taking a moment and saying those to yourself allows the negative energy to dissipate and positive energy to filter into your energy allowing your vibration to rise. You could also take the time to do a visual meditation and as you are saying your affirmations visualize the negative energy leaving your body and positive energy filling your body with light and love. Give yourself permission to take ten minutes to regroup, refresh and remind yourself that you are a SuperMama!
Emotions Recognition with Release Approach
This approach takes a little practice but you will be amazed at how fast you will pick it up. A couple of books have really helped me with this approach. These books are, “Feelings Buried Alive Never Die” by Karol Truman and “The Secret Language of Your Body” by Inna Segal. I mainly use these books for the emotion’s recognition and the opposites of those emotions. There are also numerous charts that you can find that are easy to have laying around your house to quickly reference. Find the book or chart that resonates with your energy and use it. Follow your intuition!
When you are feeling something and you know it isn’t a positive emotion it is key to know the emotion you are actually feeling. Sometimes we just feel yucky but actually have no idea what emotion is making us feel that way. When you notice you have a low vibrational emotion flowing in your body, stop and ask your body what is the emotion that I am feeling. If the emotion doesn’t come to you right away start to dissect it. Am I feeling sad, depressed, anxious, angry, frustrated, overwhelmed, the list could go on and on. Think about what activity you were performing at the time and that may give you a clue as to what you may be feeling. All I know, is that it is important to find the emotion that is ailing you at the time. When I try to lump emotions together it just doesn’t work as well. Your body needs you to witness the exact emotion. If I get really stuck, I pull out one of the two books and start looking through the lists of emotions and their opposites. As you start reading the list which emotion resonates with you? After you have figured out the emotion just release it by telling your body I want to release this anger and replace it with the opposite of anger. I want to release this anger and replace it with forgiveness, love, peace, contentment, acceptance or happiness. Choose the words that resonate with you at the time. If you would like you could even change them into affirmations. For example, I release this anger and I am forgiving, I am understanding, I am at peace, I am content and accepting of my situation or I am happy and allow my life to flow in positivity.
As you begin to recognize the negative emotions that flow through you daily and you quickly turn them around into positivity it becomes easier and easier to recognize the exact emotion and their opposites will start to slow in your head almost immediately. Remember the old adage, “Practice makes perfect.”
Results
Overtime you will start to find the method that works best or you will find that based on the situations you are in you will use x, y or z to help you move passed the negativity. I try to release negativity immediately and change my mindset as fast as I can. When negative emotions are allowed to linger, they can start to spiral out of control. The more you practice the faster you will become at changing your mindset quickly and efficiently. If you are in a situation in which you can’t change it quickly remember the feelings you had and change them when you can. That way those negative vibrations don’t linger in your energy field. Raise your vibration status as soon as you can!
Energy Sessions
There are times in which I just need a different approach and someone to listen and see me. This is when a good energy session gives me that little extra boost, I need to overcome some hurdles. Energy sessions are absolutely amazing and allow me to take care of myself through the help of another.
If you have never done an energy session, I encourage you to try one and see how it can jumpstart your mindset change. What does it hurt? It may actually help!
Challenge
For the next seven days start to recognize when something negative enters your energy field and flip it immediately to positivity. See what happens and how you feel. What method do you like to use? Record it in a journal.
